Wounds
Welcome to unexpected complications!
You suffer Wounds when you exhaust your Aura and then suffer damage that moves you to the Wounded or Downed state. The storyteller then chooses the appropriate Wound and applies it against your character.
- Healthy > Bruised (if available) > Wounded > Downed
If you play with the Death rules instead of Downed, then instead of a second Wound you simply die.
Warning: Some powerful effects can generate more than one Health damage in a single – potentially Downing you in a single shot! When you see that giant ogre swinging a tree trunk, duck!
Bruised
You do not suffer Wounds when you move from Healthy to Bruised. In effect, Bruised gives you one free round of Aura. You shrug off any negative effects with a spit of blood or a grunt. Fight on!
Wounded
When you take a Wound, the storyteller decides which element suffers the Condition and the exact condition to apply. Optionally, the storyteller may le the dice decide by randomly rolling the element.
Wounds tend to have a high Severity and require long periods of recovery.
Each Wound occupies a single Chakra. You can be afflicted by multiple Wounds at once, each the result of a single instance where you took damage while without Aura. In extreme cases, you may fill all available Chakra with wounds; at this point you are likely unable to effectively journey and should seek medical care.
Downed
When you suffer a second Wound, your health drops to the point that you are unlikely to be able to continue your journey. Downed characters should seek to escape and recover in safe settlement.
You are not expected to continue to play a Downed character during recovery. Make use of your stable of characters in this time. Don’t have a stable of characters? Invest in your hearth and start one!
