Izu

Lineage boon

  • Ancient secrets: Each year, declare to the storyteller one Art you wish to learn
    • Some time over that year in play, the storyteller will provide an opportunity to learn it
    • For lost or complex Arts, you may require multiple attempts
  • Ancestral armaments: You may spend 1 Charge (any element) to manifest tooth and claw appropriate to your clan
    • Treat these as C1 melee weapons dealing C-1 damage

How were you raised?

  • Strict and proper, given formal education complete with seifuku and droning teachers
  • Half-feral in the hills and mountains, more at home with spirits than folk
  • Among the deep history of the Izu cities, surrounded by history of this world and many others
  • Along the coasts, plying for fish and dealing with the Sirens

What of your clan guardian?

  • Is he a grumpy grandfather, annoyed at his foolish children?
  • Does he favor with treats and wisdom?
  • Does he rule your clan, leaving your clan head as puppet for his century-long machinations?
  • Does he truly care for you all, or is he merely pursuing a bargain to its end?

Your Lineage remembers much of what was lost. What secret does your clan hold?

  • The location of a pristine place, somehow untouched by the First Eruption
  • A battle in the terrible war against the Grand Fae
  • The betrayal of folk that sided with the Grand Fae
  • The true names of spirits lost to all others
  • The purpose of a Shade realm and its memory

The Great Spirits

As an Izu, you are blessed by the attention of your clan spirit. 70% of the Izu fall under one of the seven Great Spirits: Tiger, Lynx, Wolf, Bear, Fox, Ferret and Cow. The other 30% are minor clans such as Snake, Squirrel, Horse and Crow.

For most Izu, this attention is akin to a grandparent that occasionally checks in. You may, however, choose to strengthen your relationship along one of two tracks: Shifter and Shaman.

  • Shifters empower their feral nature to grow stronger and faster
  • Shamans enhance their spiritual senses to better serve Harmony
  • Once you take a single Art along one of these tracks, the other is permanently closed to you
